Found in Madagascar in deciduous forests on sand and dunes at elevations of 10 to 800 meters as a large sized, hot to war mgrowing terrestrial orchid with numerous, closely set, elongate, cauliform pseudobulbs enveloped by many non and leaf bearing sheaths and carrying 3 to 4 apical, elongate, narrowly linear, rigid, v-shaped leaves that blooms in the fall on a paniculate, 12 to 20" [30 to 50 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with successively opening flowers
