Found in Zaire, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Swaziland rocky places in woodlands often at elevations of 60 to 1500 meters as a to medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with mostly above ground, in a chain, green to reddish brown, conical, heavily wrinkled, pseudobulbs carrying 7 to 11, distichous, recurved, coriaceous, tapering to become linear, wider into the sheathing below, absent at flowering leaves that blooms in the early spring on an arising from the upper nodes of the pseudobulb, paniculate, 1 to 4 branched, stout, to 16" [40 cm] long, laxly many flowered inflorescence envelope dpartially by several, loose, papery bracts.
