Found in Zaire, Angola and Zambia in miombo woodlands, on rocky outcrops or mixed deciduous woodlands at elevations of 900 to 1170 meters as a medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with subterranean, tuberous, elongated, cylindrical perennating organs giving rise to scarcely developed at blooming, linear, acute, stiff, short leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on 1 to 2, erect, 14 to 18" [35 to 45 cm] long, laxly 10 to 20 flowered inflorescence
