Found in southwestern Tanzania in red sandy soil in forests at elevations of 700 to 900 meters as a miniature to small sized, warm growing, mycoheterotrophic terrestrial with subterranean fleshy rhizome like tubers without leaves, giving rise in the winter to an erect, slender, peduncle wiry, rachis .8 to 4" [2 to 10 cm] long, 3.6 to 10" [9 to 25 cm] long overall, laxly 4 to 15 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute floral bracts
