Found in Ghana, Nigeria, Zaire, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi in deep shade in evergreen forests at elevations of 1050 to 1300 meters as a mini-miniature to large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial saprophyte with a subterranean, fleshy tuber without leaves giving rise in the summer to an erect, yellow, laxly to densely few to many flowered inflorescence with 2 to 3 tubular bracts towards the base and 2 to 4, lanceolate, acuminate bracts above
