Found in Malawi and Zimbawe in bamboo clumps at elevations of 1000 to 1200 meters as a large to giant sized, cool growing terrestrial saprophyte with subterranean tuberous growths without leaves giving rise to in the summer an erect, yellow, densely 3 to 20 flowered inflorescence enveloped by brownish, loose bracts
