Found in Malawi and and Zimbabwe in montane grasslands and woodlands at elevations of 1100 to 2140 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with partly above ground, pseudobulbous, conical-ovoid tubers giving rise to 3 to 7, erect, in a fan, linear, acute, grass-like well developed at blooming leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, peduncle with 1 to 3 scarious sheaths towards the base, 8 to 16" [20 to 40 cm] long, laxly 6 to 10 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute floral bracts .
