Found in Burundi, Zaire, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe in damp grasslands at elevations of 1000 to 2300 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial orchid with small, close-set, conical pseudobulbs carrying 3 to 4, plicate, erect, linear leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on a slender, few to 10 flowered inflorescence with flowers that do not open well.
