Common Name or Meaning The White Gastrodia
Flower Size .2 to .28" [5 to 7 mm]
Found in Yunnan China in tropical rainforests at elevations of 700 to 800 meters as a miniature sized, warm growing mycoheterotrophic terrestrial with a fleshy, tuberous, fusiform, grayish brown rhizome giving rise in the later spring to an erect, terminal, .4 to 3.4" [1 to 8.5 cm] long, white to pale whitish rachis less than .2" [5 mm] long, 1 to 8 flowered inflorescence with membranous, ovate to broadly ovate sheaths and membraneous, ovate to ovate-oblong, acute, pale yellowish brown floral bracts.
