Found in Amazonas Brazil at elevations around 185 meters as a small to medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with ovoid, deeply ribbed, yellow green pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, thin, plicate, elliptic, strongly nerved abaxially, acute, gradually narrowing below into the channeled, short, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later summer and earlier fall on a basal, horizontal then abruptly pendent, racemose, to 20" [50 cm] long, red, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence with yellow, persistent, triangular, acute floral bracts carrying non-resupinate flowers
