Found in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras? and El Salvador? in oak cloud forests at elevations of 1800 to 3000 meters as a small to large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with elliptic-subglobose, laterally compressed pseudobulbs carrying 2, plicate, elliptic, acuminate to obtuse, attenuate basally leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, scapose, 16 to 28" [40 to 70 cm] long, 20 to 40 flowered inflorescence.
