Flower Size .6 to 1" [1.5 to 2.5 cm]

Found in the Madagascar and the West Indian Ocean islands in humid lowland forests and littoral forests at elevations of sealevel to 300 meters as a hot growing epiphytic orchid with an erect root system that develops around the base of the plant. The pseudobulbs carry linear-lanceolate leaves and bloom in the spring on an erect, paniculate, many flowered inflorescence and arise before the new growth.

The orchid above in the photo is the variety alphabetica. The concolor typical variety is quite rare in nature.
