Common Name Bathie's Habenaria [Perrier de Bathie, French Botanist in Madagascar 1900's]

Found in central and south eastern Madagascar in humid evergreen forests, highland savannahs and secondary grasslands at elevations around 800 to 2000 meters as a medium sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial with 3 to 5 fusiform-elongate tubers giving rise to a glabrous, very densely leafy stem carrying many, flat upright, narrowly lanceolate to lanceolate-linear, acute leaves gradually grading into bracts up the stem that blooms in the summer on an erect, to 6" [to 15 cm] long, cylindrical, many flowered inflorescence;
