Found in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala state of India at elevations around 600 to 800 meters as a medium sized, warm growing terrestrial with 2, oblong or sub-globose or ellipsoid tuberoids giving rise to an erect, slender, cylindrical, stem with the internodes entirely covered with sheathing leaf bases and carrying 3 to 4, cauline, sessile, ovate ovate-lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, base contracted into amplexicaul sheath, margins translucent and denticulate, apex acute leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, peduncle cylindric, with 1 or 2, clasping sterile bracts; sterile bracts ovate-lanceolate, 12 cm long, apex acuminate, margins denticulate; 10 to 16" [30 to 45 cm] long; rachis densely several flowered inflorescence with green, oblong-lanceolate, apex acuminate, margins denticulate, 3-veined, veins branched, shorter than ovary floral bracts and carrying spirally arranged, fragrant, partly opening flowers.
