Found in India in semi-evergreen forests along the sedges and open grassy slopes at higher plateaus at elevations of 2000 to 2500 meters as a medium sized [in bloom], cold growing terrestrial with1 to 2, ovate-elliptic to broadlly rounded tubers giving rise to 2, opposite, adpressed to the ground, orbicular-acute leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, to 9" [to 24.6 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with basally clasping, triangular, acute, longer than the fragrant flowers floral bracts
