Found in Zaire, Burundi, Zambia and Zimbabwe in rainforests at elevations of 1060 to 1650 meters as a medium to large sized, cool growing terrestrial with ellipsoid tubers giving rise to an erect, slender, glabrous, leafy stem carrying 5 to 10, lanceolate to linear-lanceolate to oblong lanceolate, acute, erect to suberect leaves that blooms in the winter on a terminal, erect, 2.4 to 12" [6 to 30 cm] long, fairly densely several to many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying greenish white to green with a white mid lobe to the lip, and strongly scented flowers.
