Found in Guizhou, and Yunnan provinces of China, Jeju-do Island province of Korea and the Izu Islands of Japan at elevations of 200 to 220 as a miniature to small sized, cool growing terrestrial with ellipsoid-cylindrical, tubers giving rise to an erect, terete stem provided with 3, tubular, amplexicaul, membranaceous sheaths, uppermost sheaths with blade and carrying 3 to 5, oblong-elliptic, oblanceolate, acute-acuminate, rather coriaceous, lucid, base contracted into amplexicaul sheath, green leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, terminal, ridged, 4 to 10" [10 to 25 cm] long, rachis shorter than peduncle, provided with up to 5, scattered, lanceolate, acute, membranaceous scales, racemous, rather lax, 8 to 15 flowered inflorescence with longer than or subequal to pedicallate ovaries, lanceolate, acute, membranaceous floral bracts and carrying pale, yellowish-green flowers.
