Found in Matto Grosso, DF, Goias, Tocantins, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janiero and Sao Paulo states of Brazil in galery and dry forests as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect stem enveloped completely by leaf bearing sheaths carrying 5 to 9, spaced small to large ascending the stem, elliptic, acute leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on an erect, terminal, to 10" [to 25 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, acute to acuminate floral bracts
