Common Name The Diverging Habenaria [refers tothe lateral lobes of the labellum]

Found in north central Angola in open woods at elevations around 100 to 1200 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with tubers not seen, an erect, slightly flexuous, thin stem carrying a single, basal, orbicular to reniform-orbicular, rouned apically, cordate basally, glabrous, margin pilose-ciliate leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect, terminal, peduncle to 8" [20 cm] long, rachis .8 to 1.6" [8 to 4 cm] long, subdensely 5 to 8 flowered inflorescence with similar to the stem bracts, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

Differs from other members of the Diphyllae by the single leaf and hairy stems and sepals and in the shape of the petal and labellum lobes. Resembles H perpulchrain the anterior petal lobe and lateral lobes of the labellum being widened upwards as in the section Macrurae but H perpulchra is quite glabrous and has smaller flowers.
