Found in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay as a small to medium sized terrestrial with an erect, somewhat sinuous stem enveloped by small, imbricate, quasi-distichous, linear-lanceolate, acuminate, plicate, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the later spring on an erect 2 to 4" [5 to 10 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with foliaceous, imbricate, ovate-lanceolate, long-acuminate, about the length of the flower floral bract.
