Common Name Henschen's Habenaria [Swedish Orchid Collector in Brazil later 1800's]

Found in Minas Gerais, Parana, Rio do Sul and Santa Catarina states of Brazil as a small to medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect, stout stem enveloped by leafless and grading above into leafbearing sheaths carrying linear, acute, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the late summer through early fall on an erect, terminal, 8 to 16" [20 to 40 cm] long, laxly many flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, shorter than the ovary, three nerved, erect-patent floral bracts.
