Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil at elevations of 1000 to 1500 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with ellipsoid tubers giving rise to erect to slightly sinuous stem carrying 3 to 9, ascending, linear, largest at the lower half to the center of the stem, membraneous, acuminate, narrowing below into the sheathing base leaves that blooms in the summer and fall on an erect, .8 to 8.8" [2 to 22 cm] long, spiral, congested, 4 to 48 flowered inflorescence with ovate as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying resupinate, glabrous, greenish flowers.
