Common Name Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker's Habenaria [English Botanist 1800's]

Found in Bahia, Espirito Santo, Rio de Janiero Staes of Braszil, Paraguay and Missiones Argentina on dryer forests floor at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters as a medium to giant sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial orchid with a succulent, erect, leafy stem carrying alternate, deep green, suffused with silver, lanceolate, keeled, gradually decreasing in size towards the apex leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on a terminal, cone-like, erect, to 20 flowered inflorescence with single nerved, lanceoalteacute, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

Similar to H leptoceras but distinguished by the hairs on the petals the posterior segment is more acute and ont obtuse and truncate.
