Found in New Guinea at elevations around 1300 meters as a giant sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect, elongate, strict, terete, glabrous, leafy stem carrying erect-patent, lanceolate, ligulate, acuminate, glabrous leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, cylindrical, to 8" [20 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with erect-patent, lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous floral bracts that are as long as the flowers
