Found in Zambia to northwest Botswana in wet riverside dambo in black muck soil at elevations of 1300 to 1400 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with a few, linear, acuminate, basally clasping leaves that blooms on an erect, few flowered inflorescence.
Tubers of this species are possibly used in the preparation of a local Zambian dish called Chikanda with the wild populations threatened by overharvesting.
