Found in southwestern India in grasslands at elevations around 2000 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with 1 to 2 oblong tubers giving rise to an erct stem enveloped towards the base by 4 to 5 tubular sheaths, carrying towards the middle 5 to 7, lanceolate-ovate, amplexicual, acute- acuminate leaves taht blooms in the late summer and fall on an erect, terminal, racemose, to 5.6" [14 cm] long, secund, several flowered inflorescence with large, cucullate, foliaceous, imbricate, broadly ovate, acute, shortly acuminate, progressively shorter above, as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying yellow green, large flowers.
