Common Name Schaijes' Habenaria [French Botanist and Original Collector of species 1900's]

Found in Zaire within dambos at elevations of 1000 to 1200 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with a tuber giving rise to an erect stem carrying 5, sheath-like, tighly clasping, elliptic, acuminate leaves that blooms in the late winter on an erect, 7.2" [18 cm] long, 4" [10 cm] around, fairly lax, 6 flowered inflorescence with the inferior bracts folicaeous, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying resupinate, subsessile flowers
