Found in Malawi at elevations around 1200 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with thin, terete, erect, strict, glabrous, leafy stem carrying 5 to 7, erect-patent, light green, linear-lanceolate, acute, grading into bracts above leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, terminal, cylindrical, to 8" [20 cm] long, subdensely many flowered inflorescence with elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, shorter than the vary floral bracts and carrying erect-patent, glabrous, light green, shony, brown striped in the middle, flowers.

Similar to H schimperiana but differs in the shape of the petals and the labellum.
