Common Name Werckle's Habenaria [German Orchid Collector in Central America later 1800's]

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama in open pastures and in lowland forests at elevations around 100 meters as a small sized, hot growing terrestrial with an erect stem enveloped by foliaceous sheaths grading to basal, green, largest below, acuminate, disitchous, conduplicate, conspicuously carinate leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, to 2.4 to 3.2" [6 to 8 cm] long, few to 15 flowered inflorescence
