Common Name or Meaning The Purple Spotted Hemipiliopsis - In China Zi Ban Lan

Flower Size 1/2" [1.25 cm]

Found in southeastern Xizang province of China and northeastern India in broad-leaved evergreen forests, grasslands and sandy soils along rivers at elevations of 2100 to 3400 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with purple spots throughout the plant and flower and has tubers giving rise to an erect stem with 2 sterile, scale-like bracts and carrying a single, light purple abaxially, green spotted with purple adaxially, elliptic to ovate-oblong leaf that blooms in the later summer on an erect, 3.2" to 8" [8 to 20 cm] long, 2 to 20 flowered inflorescence with shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
