Found in western Sichuan and northern Yunnan provinces of China in hillside forests and gently sloping meadows at elevations of 2500 to 3300 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a stem carrying bract-like leaflets and a linear leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect, 2.4 to 6" [6 to 15 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, almost as long as the ovary floral bracts.
