Found in the eastern Himalayas, Assam, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Sumatra and Vietnam in dense hill evergreen forests at elevations of 700 to 2400 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial orchid with a long, creeping at base, erect higher up stem carrying to 9 ovate to ovate-lancolate, shortly acuminate, acute, narrowing below into the grooved petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on a terminal, pubescent, to 10" [ to 25 cm] long, subglobose, racemose, densely 8 to many flowered inflorescence with oblong-lanceolate, obtuse, ribbed floral bracts that are longer than the ovary.
