Found in south China, Bangladesh, Assam, eastern Himalayas, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam in shady moist seasonal evergreen hill forests at elevations of 450 to 1050 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with a leafy, glabrous stem carrying ovate-elliptic, more or less oblique to subacute, 5 veined, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on a puberulent becoming glandular-pubescent, erect, 3.2 to 6.4" [8 to 16 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescnece with 3 to 5 distant, clasping, lanceolate, acuminate bracts and has lanceolate, acuminate, puberulent, shorter than the ovary floral bracts
