Found in Hainan province of China, Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo and Sumatra in dense lowland forests on sandstone and limestone rocks in shade at elevations of 300 to 400 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing litho-terrestrial with a stem carrying 5 to 8 well spaced leaves in the upper third stem with ovate, acute, asymetric, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a woolly pubescent, 10.4 to 13.6" [26 to 34 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with 4 to 5 sterile bracts and lanceolate, shorter than the ovary, abaxially puberulent, acuminate floral bracts
