Found in Great Britain, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Spain, France, Corsica?, Sardnia?, Sicily, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czecloslovakia, Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Italy, Yugoslavia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Iraq as a medium to large sized, cold growing terrestrial in calcareous soil up to 700 meters with 6 to 12, ovate to broadly lanceolate, acute, clear green leaves that blooms on a terminal, erect, 4 to 12" [10 to 30 cm] long, cylyndrical, many [40 to 120] flowered, racemose inflorescence with lanceolate bracts occuring in late spring and early summer and has foul smelling flowers likened by some to the smell of goats.
