Found in Malaysia, Borneo, Java, Sulawesi? and Sumatra in lowland and riverine forests on rough barked, moss-free tree trunks at elevations around 50 meters as a small to just medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with a short stem carrying 4 to 6, two-ranked, laterally compressed, linear, acute, placed at an acute angle to stem and others, lower small, upper larger leaves that blooms on a terminal, pendulous, 20" [50 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute floral bracts and carries non-resupinate flowers
In Java the fruits of this species along with fruits [not necessarily all together] from Plocoglottis javanica, Bulbophyllum vaginatum and Dendrobium crumenatum are boiled and the juice is applied into ones ears for an earache
