Found in Malawi and Zambia in montane grasslands at elevations of 1500 to 2200 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a leafy stem carrying 7 to 8, lowest 3 sheathing, the middle, semi-erect, linear leaves with the uppermost grading into bracts that blooms late summer and earlier fall on a terminal, erect, 3.6 to 5.2" [9 to 13 cm] long, fairly densely, several to many flowered inflorescence with almost as long as the ovary floral bracts .
