Found in southwest Tanzania in upland grasslands at elevations of 2100 to 2250 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with obovoid tubers giving rise to 1 to 2, basal, orbicular leaves that are ofen shriveled at blooming on an erect, rachis 2.8 to 5.2" [7 to 13 cm] long, rather densely many flowered, secund inflorescence with numerous, lanceolate, acuminate sheaths and lanceolate, acuminate, nearly as long as the ovary floral bracts.
