Common Name Brongniart's Holothrix [Director of the Paris Botanical Garden 1800's]

Found in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia in short upland grasslands often amongst rocks at elevations of 1200 to 3500 meters as a warm to cold growing terrestrial with 2, adpressed to the ground, reniform-orbicular, apiculate, glabrous, light green veined on dark velvety green above, slightly irregular red margined leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, to 4" [10 cm] long, pubescent, one to a few flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, shorter than the ovary, nearly glabrous bracts.
