Found in Taiwan in rainforests in shady damp locations at elevations of 100 to 400 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with an ascending, black to purplish brown stem carrying 3 to 6, abaxially pale green, adaxially dark green and glossy, obovate to elliptic, acuminate to acute, obtuse below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, reddish brown, sparsely pubescent, 2 to 4" [5 to 10 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence with reddish brown, abaxially pubescent, ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate, slightly longer than the pedicel and ovary, acuminate floral bracts.
