Common Name Cobb's Sudamerlycaste [English Orchid Enthusiast 1800's]

A medium sized, warm to hot growing, caespitose epiphyte and occasional lithophyte that is found around 200 to 1800 meters in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in wet montane forest with slender, tapered cylindric psedobulbs without spined with 2 to 3 apical, plicate, narrow, linear-lanceolate, acuminate leaves with a tapered to long petiole that blooms on an erect, 8" [20 cm] long, basal inflorescence arising on mature psuedobulbs with large, ovate, long-acuminate bracts occuring in the fall through spring. This species has the thinnest psuedobulbs and leaves of the genus.
