Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 1400 to 1900 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte or terrestrial with truncated, ovoid-conical pseudobulbs unspined after leaf fall and carrying 2 to3, plicate, tapering below into the petilate base leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, 5.6 to 6.4" [14 to 16 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with night fragrant flowers
