Found in Colombia in wet montane forests at elevations around 2000 meters as a large sized, cool to cold growing orchid with pale green, pyriform to tapered, slightly ridged pseudobulbs with no spines after leaf-fall and carrying 3, pale green, plicate, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late winter and spring on an almost horizontal, 9.6 to 12.4" [24 to 31 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with nocturnally fragrant flowers
