Found in Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi and Mozambique at elevations around 1600 to 1950 meters medium to large sized, cool growing epiphyte with clustered, simple stems enveloped completely by persistent, imbricating, distichous sheaths and carrying oblong-ligulate, equally to slightly unequally bilobed apically, coriaceous, mid nerve prominent below leaves that blooms in the winter on an axillary, from the bare persistent sheaths or leaves above, 2" [5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with 3 to 5, basal, imbricating, ovate, obtuse, scarious bracts.
