Common Name Tinschert's Kefersteinia [German Orchid Enthusiast in Guatemala 1915-2006]

Flower Size 1" to 1.2" [2.5 to 3cm]

Found in Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas states of Mexico and Guatemala on bases of shade trees in wet montane forests and along streams in drier areas at elevations around 900 to 1400 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with rudimentary pseudobulbs enveloped by the leaf bearing sheaths and carrying 5 to 6, linear to linear-oblong to oblanceolate, acute-acuminate, basally conduplicate, arcuate, soft, flexible, sulcate above, carinate below leaves that blooms in the spring, summer and fall on a filiform, .92 to 1.8" [2.3 to 4.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with cucullate, inflated, papery, ovate-subquadrate, obtuse to rounded floral bracts.
