Found in Guyana, Surinam, Venezuela, Peru, and northern & central Brazil in very wet montane forest in tall grass on brush covered slopes at elevations of 1000 to 2800 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with globose pseudobulbs enveloped by persistent bracts and leaf sheaths and carrying 1 to 3, plicate, narrowly linear-lanceolate, petiolate, acuminate leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, basal, long-pedunculate, to 21.4" [54 cm] long, 5 to 9 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, shorter than the ovary bracts and carrying fragrant flowers.
