Common Name The Carrao Kollensteinia [A river in Venezuela]

Found from Venezuela, French Guiana and Surinam in wet forests at altitudes around 500 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with cylindric pseudobulbs completely enveloped by imbricating sheaths and carrying, a single, plicate, elliptic, acute, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that is completely enveloped by grey and brown nervose, scarious sheaths and blooms in the spring on an erect, terete, smooth, dark maroon-red basally and grading to pale green at the raceme, to 12" [30 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence with a few pale pink-brown bracts and pale green floral bracts
