Common Name Lilija's Koellensteinia

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Panama and Amazonas Venezuela at elevations around 100 meters as a large sized, hot growing terrestrial with a short rhizome giving rise to clustered, ellipsoid, enveloped in youth by scarious, distichous, imbricate, acute, evanescent sheaths and carrying a single, apical, lanceolate, acute to acuminate, plicate, attenuate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms on a basal, erect, peduncle enveloped by 6, below close set, above well spaced bracts, to 22" [55 cm] long, subdensely several flowered inflorescence with ovate to triangular-ovate, acute, shorter than to as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying erect-patent, yellow flowers with purple spots and dashes.
