Kreodanthus crispifolius Garay 1978 Collection by © Jany Renz and The Swiss Orchid Foundation at the Jany Renz Herbaria Website
Common Name The Wavy Edged Leaf Kreodanthus
Flower Size
Found in Ecuador and Peru at elevations around 2900 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a stem-like ascendant rhizome becoming erect,, straight leafy stem carrying several, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, acute to subacuminate, more or less rounded below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms on an erect, terminal, slender, elongate, to 16" [40 cm] long overall, rachis to 4" [10 cm] long, cylindric, loosely several flowered inflorescence with a few remote sheaths and ovate-lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts.
CAUTION The species depicted above may be incorrectly identified as it was collected in Central Colombia and references say that this orchid comes only from Ecuador and Peru, nor does the drawing of the lip or the length of the rachis match that in my references.
