Common Name The Mixed Up Laelia [refering to Hoehne's impression that this species was a hybrid which is false]

Found in Espirito Santo state of Brazil at elevations around 800 meters as a small to medium sized, warm growing epiphyte with basally thickened, elongate, tapering towards the tip pseudobulbs carrying 2 apical leaves that blooms in the summer in the northern hemisphere and spring in Brazil on a to 26" [65 cm] long, to 15 flowered inflorescence that is much longer than the leaf and arising through a 6" [15 cm] long sheath and carrying the flowers in a crowded fashion towards the apex of the inflorescence.
